The Help

A newly released movie titled the 'The Help' is currently showing in Australian cinemas.  It portrays the  great influence a writer can have when confronting injustice. Set in the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement in the United States, the writer addresses the rights of African American maids who work for white families and the hardships these maids endure. This two and a half hour movie conveys a young woman's passion for change, shows the importance of others working with her in developing case studies and the eventual fruits of the published word, in this case a book titled 'The Help', in achieving this change.
