Creative Minorities Survey

When a need emerges in society there is often a person who sees this need and strives to rectify the problem causing the need.  We could say this person receives a charism (or gift) from God to act.  Often people gather around this person to help the newly emerging leader achieve this goal. We might call this newly formed group a creative minority.  It has been said across history that creative minorities shape the world.  I am doing some research on this topic and would be most grateful if you could spare 10 or 15 minutes to complete a two page creative minorities survey by clicking below.

Introducing Charism

On Wednesday, 14th July, 13 people joined 3 team members to learn about the charism of Marcellin Champagnat.  The programme began with a presentation on Marcellin, his life and spirit.  We then discussed how this charism has been passed on to other people since 1817. The realisation that the charism now inspires people in 79 countries seemed to enthuse those who attended.

Celebrating Life

Today we celebrated men who have lived their lives faithfully as members of the Marist Brothers' Religious Congregation for 50 years or more. We do this every year about this time, but this year it occurred to me that our world encourages change and invites people to take on new careers. And while this is often needed and valuable, there are other people who have found their identity and their niche and find they can live life to the full in the way to which they have been called.  People who live religious life acknowledge this to be a gift from God, and in the case of Marists, to be assisted by the witness of the lives of Mary, the mother of Jesus and our Founder, St Marcellin Champagnat. I am honoured to be a Marist Brother and celebrations like we enjoyed today here in Melbourne, with our families and friends, make me even more aware of, and grateful for, this gift for life.  See more photos

Creative Minorities

Michael Leunig has this informative cartoon in today's Melbourne Age. It brings to mind the topic of 'Creative Minorities' about which I am writing at the moment, in preparation for my presentation at the ACU Educational Leadership Conference in Sydney in August.
