Welcome

Our Marist Blog provides an opportunity for those of us interested in Marist Life and Mission, to share our knowledge and understanding.

Our worldwide Marist community commenced in 1817 in France when French priest, Marcellin Champagnat established his small community of Brothers in the wake of the French Revolution.

Today, as men and women, we strive to continue to live St Marcellin's vision of educating young people for the good of our global community.

22nd General Chapter, 2017

The Marist Brothers held their 22nd General Chapter in Columbia in 2017.  It adopted a 'U Process' as a way of establishing goals for the Institute for the next eight years.  Br Maurice Berquet represents the process diagrammatically below.

This process lead the delegates to discern the following calls:

to be a global family, to be beacons or lighthouses of hope, to be bridge-builders, to be the face and the hands of mercy ... to walk with those children and young people on the margins and to respond audaciously to the emerging needs in the world.

Further information about these calls can be found here
