The Catholic Community in Perth, including parents from Catholic Schools, have recently funded the refurbishment of St Mary's Cathedral in the heart of the city of Perth. The land for the Cathedral was obtained in 1859 and the Cathedral was built in a number of stages since then. The result of the most recent refurbishment is outstanding with a beautifully created Vatican II type space with plenty of daylight shining through the newly contructed and large glass windows. The parish centre is located beneath the Cathedral. School Communities have been acknowleged individually with plaques in the Cathedral grounds. Archbishop Hickey and the Catholic Community can be proud of their newly refurbished Cathedral.
