Marist General Chapter Columbia 2017

The 22nd General Chapter of the Marist Brothers commenced on 8th September 2017. It’s theme ‘A New Beginning’ recognises the opportunities our Bicentenary Year offers us.  We pray for Br Emili Turú as he concludes his 8 year term as Superior General and ask God to inspire our capitulants as they elect our next international leader. On 21st September, 2017 I begin a three month sabbatical. Australian Marist Provincial Br Peter Carroll has invited me to participate in a two month 'Third Age' program in Rome and to do some travel as part of my time away. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity and would like to share my journey with you on social media and through this blog. Prior to the Rome Course I will be spending a week in each of Russia and England and after the Course some time in Venice, Vienna and Frankfurt. There I hope to broaden my understanding of the history and culture of these places and the ways they contribute to our globalised world.  I look forward to sharing my experiences with you and welcome your feedback and suggestions. @johnrmcmahon
