Brs Nicholas (left) and MiguelAs Chapter Delegates conclude the 21st General Chapter, final discussions are taking place about the wording of the Fundamental Call we believe God is asking of us for the next eight years across our Marist world. This call will be expressed in a number of formats, one of which is song.

Emili presenting a plaque to Sean and each member of the outgoing CouncilOn Monday, 5th October, Chapter Delegates and staff at the General House held a special liturgy to thank the outgoing Superior General and Council. New Superior General, Emili Turu thanked Sean Sammon for his outstanding leadership as Superior General over the past eight years. He spoke about the great developments that have taken place during this time. Emili described Sean, in the words of his own circular, as a ‘Marvellous Companion’. The Assembly gave Sean a standing ovation.
Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 5:57PM On Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd October, Chapter delegates elected the following six Brothers as members of the General Council:
Eugene Kabanguka (Rwanda);
John Klein (United States);
Antonio Ramalho (Brazil);
Ernesto Sanchez (Mexico);
Josep Maria Soteras (Spain) and
Michael de Waas (Sri Lanka).
We congratulate these Brothers on their election.

These Principles are:
1. Co-responsibility; 2. Subsidiarity; 3. Internationality; 4. Solidarity;
5. Discernment; 6. Flexibility; 7. Presence
